When I was a young, clueless, anti-establishment type in the early 70s, I had a flirtatious infatuation with marxist theory; it sounded like a "fair" and viable socio-political economic system for a large agrarian-based population.

Then, I learned that in any "real world" situation involving human nature, there is often a big difference between something sounding good in "theory" and how it works in "practice."  Free-market capitalism isn't "perfect"---because it involves "imperfect" people.  But it works a helluva a lot better than any other political economic system: to create the greatest amount of prosperity for the greatest number of people, with the greatest amount of freedom.

Would someone please inform our President that history has proven that government-delivered socialism and the nationalization of industries and resources DOESN'T WORK!

Sadly we live in an era where proponents of an increasingly powerful Federal government have largely succeeded in turning the phrase "state's rights" into a euphemism for "racism." Because big government liberals portray themselves as the champions of progress and justice, they always view any attempt to oppose bigger government as a de facto defense of greed, injustice, and white power.

Of course any mandate by the Federal government that would force citizens to buy anything under penalty of law is simply outrageous, and deserves to be challenged on the merits of individual freedom alone. However, we should expect proponents of a Federal health care mandate to once again characterize exemption amendments by individual states as "racism," most probably by resorting to their standard "women, minorities hardest hit" argument.

David Cameron must still hold a referendum on Britain’s wider relationship with the European Union even after abandoning a promise of a vote on the Lisbon Treaty, Tory eurosceptics have said.

"Instead of a referendum on Lisbon, Mr Cameron will promise to renegotiate some parts of the EU rulebook, arguing that control over some social and employment rules must be returned to the UK."

"European lawyers say that repatriating powers from the EU is extremely difficult, because it would require the unanimous agreement of all 26 other member-states."

Once the "member-states" hand political and legal power over to "the Federation", it is exceedingly difficult for any individual member-state to get their power back (without formally seceding from "the union"). Sound familiar?

And, just how bad is the (inter)national organization known as ACORN?

"A report from the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform states that ACORN "has repeatedly and deliberately engaged in systemic fraud. Both structurally and operationally, ACORN hides behind a paper wall of nonprofit corporate protections to conceal a criminal conspiracy on the part of its directors, to launder federal money in order to pursue a partisan political agenda and to manipulate the American electorate."

Since 1994, ACORN has received more than $53 million in federal funds, according to the report.

"Under the Obama administration, ACORN stands to receive a whopping $8.5 billion in available stimulus funds. Operationally, ACORN is a shell game played in 120 cities, 43 states and the District of Columbia through a complex structure designed to conceal illegal activities, to use taxpayer and tax-exempt dollars for partisan political purposes, and to distract investigators. Structurally, ACORN is a chess game in which senior management is shielded from accountability by multiple layers of volunteers and compensated employees who serve as pawns to take the fall for every bad act," the report said.

The report continued, "Lobbying is a substantial part of what ACORN does. It has endorsed Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Representative Albert Wynn (D-MD), and Representative Donna Edwards (D-MD). ACORN keeps donor records from the Clinton, Kerry and Obama campaigns with the intent to engage in prohibited communications. ACORN receives federal funding yet engages in improper lobbying. ACORN and its nonprofit affiliates do not have separate accounts. Neither ACORN nor any of its affiliates have properly reported their political activities to the IRS. These harms fly under the legal radar because the IRS rarely checks for compliance. The 'no substantial part' test is rarely enforced and the accounts of ACORN and its affiliates are illegally commingled." "

So, now that ACORN is breaking apart it's national organization into different regional organizations---with new names---what has changed about the fundamental way they conduct themselves?

"The national organization is still led by Chief Executive Bertha Lewis, who previously headed the New York City chapter. She's working to institute recommendations from a December report that came out of a two-month internal investigation by former Massachusetts Attorney General Scott Harshbarger.

“We'll continue to speak out on the issues we have worked on for years, although we're doing it with diminished capacity,” the spokesman said."

Something tells me that not a whole lot will change---as long as the Obamacrats are still in power.

White House promises left: Illegals will be eligible for ObamaCare after we give them amnesty

During his famous ObamaCare address to both Houses of Congress, Obama wasn't "technically" lying about "illegal aliens" not being covered under his proposed plan, because he knew he was planning on granting legal status to them in 2010. There's more than one way to skin the American taxpayer.

Like Joe Wilson, I was worried for awhile that he might try to extend federal benefits to illegals, but now that I know he’s planning to wave his hand and magically legalize them first, I feel better.

Lawmakers who want to extend health coverage to illegal immigrants will not block the passage of the final health care reform bill so long as the White House offers a substantive promise to start pushing comprehensive immigration legislation this year…

A source familiar with the negotiations between Congress and the White House told TPMDC the Congressional Hispanic Caucus will demand an agreement from Obama that health care coverage for illegals who earn a path to citizenship will be addressed in an immigration bill…

Those familiar with the talks say any immigration legislation will include various amnesty provisions to allow for health care coverage.
